RAGNAR

How crazy am I??? Well, pretty darn crazy. Three weeks ago i went on a run with my friend, Fiona. She asked me to be on her team for the ragnar race. I asked a few questions like how far do i have to run. She said you would have 3 leg that were 3miles, 4miles, and then 5 miles. I was like ok! I had no idea what i was getting myself into. I sign up and check my leg online and they are not what fiona said. I called her and said i cant do that. They legs were like this: leg 1: 3.2 miles at a 900ft elevation. Leg 2: 5.5 straight. Leg 3: 7.3 straight down hill. I was like i have only trained for 3 miles for my tri and thats it. I have never ran 7 miles in my life and the race is in 3 weeks. CRAZY. She convinced me that it was ok they needed me and it would be FUN!!!! I said fine even though i was terrified. I trained very hard the next two weeks because i had to jump from 3 miles to 7 in two weeks (b/c the third week you have to tapper off), thats a lot. I trained for my 5k for 2 and a half MONTHS. Anywhere, i was able to make it to 6.5 miles before the race. My body hurt pretty bad but i was very determined.
The ragnar is a 12 person relay team. You cover 191 miles from Logan Utah to Park City. Its non-stop running. You have 2 vans, 6 ppl in each and while one van is running their legs (which are all different) the other van is resting and driving to the next exchange area.
I did pretty good. I was just happy i finished it. I got some type of rash on my torso, i am pretty sure it was from the race. I think b/c i sleep in my sweat. Gross i know but that what happens in the ragnar. My first run was Friday June 17th at around 5pm- HOT HOT HOT. Then my next leg was Saturday morning at 3:45ish. My last leg was around 3pm that saturday. I was very tired after, i slept all the way home and most of the next day. My calfs killed b/c i did not train uphill or downhill and that is what i did in the race. It was fun like Fiona said and i would love to do it again, not sure why. I love the sense of accomplishment maybe!
